Nicole Meier is an experienced environmental professional specializing in Indigenous knowledge systems, climate change mitigation, and biodiversity conservation. Currently serving as the Traditional Ecological Knowledge Coordinator for the Tla’amin Nation’s Lands and Resource Department in British Columbia, Nicole integrates traditional wisdom with modern ecological practices to support sustainable land management. Her previous role as Co-Project Lead and Project Manager for Indigenous-owned initiatives in Panama focused on climate change mitigation, food security, and youth empowerment. She has a strong background in project development, securing funding, and fostering partnerships with local Indigenous councils.

Nicole holds a MSc in Biology from McGill University and a BSc in Forest Conservation Science from the University of Toronto. Her research experience includes roles with McGill University, the Canadian Mountain Network, and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, where she contributed to projects on biodiversity, land guardianship, and environmental education. Throughout her career, Nicole has collaborated with First Nations leaders, traditional knowledge holders, and environmental scientists, bringing together diverse perspectives to promote ecological resilience and community well-being.
