Dr. Margaret Fafa Akwetey is the Coordinator for the University of Cape Coast team. She holds a Ph.D. in Oceanography and Limnology from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, awarded in 2020. Their academic journey also includes a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Oceanography and Limnology (2013) and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (2009), both from the same institution.

With a passion for aquatic environments, Dr. Akwetey specializes in benthic ecology and taxonomy. Since 2009, they have conducted extensive research on macroinvertebrates across various ecosystems, including lagoons, estuaries, rivers, and coastal areas in Ghana. They have accumulated vast field experience and insights into aquatic biodiversity.

Dr. Akwetey began their career as a Research Assistant/Teaching Associate in 2013, later transitioning to a Lecturer position in March 2021. They currently teach courses such as Biological Oceanography, Wetlands, Seashore Ecology, Malacology, Marine Biodiversity, and Marine Benthos, contributing to the education and advancement of future marine scientists.
